Goals. G-O-A-L-S. Gratitude-Optimism-Accomplished-Lively-Self-respect. That’s what you’ll feel when set a valuable goal and achieve it.

Yeah, sometimes we really dread it. The thought of setting goals even makes me a little anxious. Maybe we are just too comfortable, lack motivation, afraid to fail, or assume we will fail from the beginning, so we don’t even bother starting. But we all know that we should set goals if we want to reach that truly happy place and sense of fulfillment. I’m not just talking about setting goals on the job like improving your communication skills (‘SMART’ goals as most like to call them; which is helpful, but I’d like to get a little deeper here). I’m referring to the type of goals that make you feel like a better person. Goals that give you a larger purpose. Goals that make you feel like a badass bitch (or should I say balanced?) Maybe you want to lose 10 lbs and look hot in that skimpy bikini that your dad preferred you didn’t wear or you’ve chosen to finally chase your dream of being a business-owner and tell your boss to f*ck off.

Did you realize that setting goals ultimately brings a sense of well-being? Goals are a critical driver to happiness. By setting clearly defined goals that you take pride in achieving, you’ll not only raise your self-confidence tremendously, but also recognize your endless potential, thus, motivating you to keep it going!

According to Sonja Lyubomirsky, author of “The How of Happiness”:

  • Goals can give a sense of purpose and feeling of control
  • Goals can increase our self-esteem
  • Goals can add structure and interest
  • Goals can help us learn to strategize and prioritize our time
  • Goals can keep us grounded in times of change or uncertainty
  • Goals can help us feel more deeply connected to others

We are all capable of doing anything we put our minds to (well, for the most part, let’s not get carried away now). I firmly believe that with motivation, perseverance, resilience and long term vision – you can do anything. We should be consistently setting goals for ourselves if we want to reach our fullest potential in life. Don’t think that certain goals are out of reach. If you want it, go get it! Me and Ann hadn’t always envisioned this blog being a reality, but with the right tools and mindset, we went for it. Keep your eye on the prize and you will reach your goals.
